This workshop will begin with a brief introduction, this will examine the term “mixed media” then look at the history of mixed media by viewing images by artists who have worked in this medium through the ages. A demonstration of different ways of applying mixed media will then take place, during which students will be given the opportunity to follow. Students will also be encouraged to experiment with their own ways of applying mixed media.  The techniques covered will be:

• Using paper to create a textured surface, on which to apply paint.
• Creating textures in paint using different materials.
• 3 Oil pastels and paint.
• Soft pastels and paint.
