Please can you bring the following materials with you:

Winter Gardening in Stitches with Barbara Walters

  • Cotton background fabric – could be coloured or patterned.
  • Fabric soaps.*
  • A good selection of embroidery threads.*
  • Embroidery ring preferably 8 inches.
  • Sharp embroidery scissors, pins, needles.

Painting and Printing Fabric for Embroiders with Barbara Walters

  • 1m cotton or calico. This needs to be washed.
  • Gloves and protective apron or old clothes.
  • Craft knife and cutting board (if available).
  • There will be an extra charge of £3.00 for fabric paints.

Painting on Tiles with Veronica Currie

  • Acrylic paints.
  • Brushes.
  • Jar (for brushes).

Still Life in Oils with Veronica Currie

  • Oil paints (basic set).
  • Oil painting medium.
  • White spirit.
  • Canvas (or canvas board or primed paper suitable for oils).
  • Brushes (basic flat ones).
  • Pencil.
  • Jar (for brushes).
  • Artists palette (for mixing paint).
  • Water based paint e.g. acrylic, watercolour or gouache (at least 2 colours).
  • Assorted paint brushes, but advise bringing a ¾” cheap, flat paint brush.
  • Any implements you might have for applying paint e.g. foam rollers, soft rags, twigs, bamboo pen, an old tooth brush etc.
  • Water container and palette.
  • A collection of different textured papers e.g. kitchen towel, news paper, brown wrapping paper, textured wall paper, corrugated card, tissue paper etc.
  • Textured pieces of material, if you have them· Scissors, pencil· Kitchen towel or rags for drying paint brushes etc.
  • Glue brush· Paper for painting on:  2 sheets of A2, either 140lb watercolour paper or heavy-duty cartridge paper.
  • Water sprayer, if you have one.
  • Notebook and pen, if you wish to take notes·
  • PVA glue* or Mervin Medium·
  • Oil pastels* or oil bars·
  • Soft pastels*.

*Some will be available to use in the class.
